The work analyzes the provisions of the Floods Directive, which, in accordance with the national legislation of Ukraine, were developed national provisions for preliminary flood risk assessment, the development of flood hazard maps and flood risk maps, as well as the procedure for developing a flood risk management plan. A preliminary flood risk assessment of the territories of 9 river basin districts of Ukraine was made in accordance with the Water Code of Ukraine. The description of floods which have occurred in the past and which had significant adverse impacts on destruction objectives and for which the likelihood of similar future events is still relevant or which may will be with adverse impacts in a future, has been fulfilled. A total of 899 events associated with such flooding have been analyzed. The risk of such flooding is assessed. According to the assessment results, territories with potentially significant flood risks have been identified. A boundaries and localization of 221 Areas with Potential Significant Flood Risk of river basin districts of Ukraine have been estimated. Maps with Areas with Potential Significant Flood Risk of river basin districts of Ukraine, have been developed.
