Aim: definition of possible ways of sludge utilization of aluminous productions after their neutralization or activation as reagents and sorbents for water purification; development of technology of receiving a composite coagulant and the modified adsorbent for purification of natural and waste water, assessment of their efficiency in water purification processes. Methods: X-ray and energodisperse elemental analysis, heat treatment of the samples, sorption, modification of activated carbon (AC); acid neutralization of red mud, coagulation with red mud treatment products, evaluation of the sorption efficiency and coagulation processes using red mud treatment products. The main results: the results of the study of the composition of bauxite waste of the Nikolayev aluminous plant and Zaporizhia aluminum plant are presented; basic ways of application of products of processing of red mud to reagent materials for treatment of natural and waste water are established; the technological regimes for obtaining a composite coagulant from an acid solution after neutralization of red mud is done, the effectiveness of their use as a coagulant and catalytic modification and for the modification of activated carbon is checked for water purification; the technological flowchart of receiving a composite coagulant and the modified adsorbent is offered.
