The purpose of the work: to establish the regularities of the fertility change of the depleted peatlands for long-term anthropogenic impact and to determine the ways of optimizing their properties in the future in the left-bank part of the forest-steppe of Ukraine. The stated goal is realized by determining the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of agrochemical and physicochemical properties of peat bogs and comparing them with the data for 1982. The research was carried out on drained soils of the Panfilsk research station NSC "Institute of Agriculture of the NAAN". Soils are deep and medium deep peatlands. The researches found that during the 36 year period of agricultural use of peat soils the volume mass increased by an average of almost 1.4 times, and the total moisture content decreased by 1.6 times. Peat became much ash 47-59%, almost no acid pH of the water pH 7.4-7.8% changed. The amount of gross phosphorus increased by 6-8%, and nitrogen, depending on the method of use, decreased by 8-10%, potassium remained unchanged. The productivity of biocenoses for the cultivation of perennial grasses and energy crops has been determined. In the case of woody crops, the highest indices were obtained at the growth of willow three stamens - 39.40 t / ha of dry matter per year on average, and on the variants of perennial and one-year herbaceous crops productivity was lower, respectively: giant 25.93 t / ha of miskanthus and 16.58 t / ha of corn and 8.14 t / ha of perennial grasses.
