The aims of the investigation were study of perspective numbers in competitive and preliminary variety testing and propagation of seeds of perspective varieties. Research methods. The basic methods of selection of fibre flax are simple and complex intraspecific and interspecific crosses, individual selection by productivity. The main methods of research: measurement-weight, calculation-comparative, statistical, dispersion and regression. Main results of work. In the previous variety trial, 6 breeding samples were selected which exceeded the standard Zorya 87 variety by the complex of economic and useful features: for the yield of straw by 0.16 - 0.50 t/ha (standard 2.52 t/ha), for seed yield by 0.06-0.15 t/ha (standard 0.65 t/ha). According to the results of competitive variety testing, seven selection samples were selected that exceed the standard Zorya 87 for the yield of straw, fiber and seeds, respectively, by 0.11 - 0.59 t/ha, 0.09 - 0.24 t/ha, by 0.01 - 0.16 t/ha. Selection breeding samples with increased seed yield, straw yield, fiber and its content in stems, which will be used for further breeding to produce new varieties of fibre flax, are selected in the collection and breeding nurseries.
