Object of study: aerosols in the atmosphere of the Earth. Research methods: computer modeling, programming and creation of data processing algorithms, the development of calibration techniques. The concept and structure of the data processing algorithm for the ScanPol multichannel scanning polarimeter of the Aerosol-UA space project has been developed. The purpose of the mission is to monitor the spatial and temporal distribution of the characteristics of tropospheric and stratospheric aerosols in the Earth's atmosphere. The paper proposes a software architecture for orbital calibration and its implementation, a software solution for calculating solar zenith angles for observation sites, as well as a method for geotagging satellite observations. A model of polarimetric channels has been detailed and a method has been developed for determining calibration constants from the ScanPol and MSIP mathematical models of polarimeters. The spurious signals associated with the scattering of light on the in homogeneities of the optical elements of polarimeters are estimated. In numerous experiments, the marginal errors of measuring the degree of polarization were determined when registering with the ScanPol and MSIP polarimeter. The results of the work are presented in the form of an article sent to the Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer. The study comply with high-level international standards and are a continuation of the preparation of the Aerosol-UA space mission, started in 2013 with the support of the Targeted Integrated Program of Scientific Space Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The space experiment will provide information for determining the contribution of anthropogenic aerosol to the energy balance of the planet and for assessing air pollution by aerosols.
