Normal and abnormal modes of super-high voltage transmission lines with different degrees of compensation of charge power have been analyzed. Electromagnetic processes in compensated transmission lines depending on the initial conditions at the moment of switching are investigated. Results of investigation of the causes of accidents of linear SF6 circuit breakers during commutations of compensated transmission lines of 750 kV are given. Moments of abrupt changes in the parameters of transients during switching in ultra-high voltage lines are detected. Measures limiting the duration of the aperiodic component of current and overvoltage in abnormal modes are proposed. Recommendations and measures to improve the reliability of the execution of commutations in compensated overhead transmission lines of ultrahigh voltage have been developed.
