Methods of research - mathematical modeling, physical experiment with registration of fast processes, X-ray phase analysis and electron microscopy. The methods of synthesis of nanostructured metal-carbon coatings, which include onion-like nanocarbon, are analyzed. The electrophysical processes of electric explosion of metallic conductors in a carbon-containing gas were studied with simultaneous continuous electrical discharge synthesis of onion-like nanocarbon. The physical and technical conditions of hybrid method for the synthesis of nanostructured metal-carbon coatings with onion-like nanocarbon are determined. The researches allow to formulate qualitative conditions of the hybrid method for the synthesis of nanostructured metal-carbon coatings with onion-like nanocarbon, by providing continuous current mode of electrical explosion of conductors, which determinates by the electrical parameters of processing and geometric parameters of conductors. Coating of Ti-TiC-C in the thicknesses of 0.13-0.23 mm and W-WC-C thicknesses of 0.08-0.13 mm, allows to strengthen the metal surfaces of aluminum products twice.
