The purpose of the work is to develop a methodology for limiting growth processes in apple trees by mechanical cutting of the root system. Methods of field research, laboratory-field, laboratory, statistical, economic-comparative and estimated. In the conditions of the Right-bank part of the Western Forest-steppe of Ukraine, the optimum terms, the depth of mechanical cutting of the root system and the distance of working bodies from the tree trunk have been determined. The influence of mechanical cutting of the root system on the passage of phenological phases of the development of fruit of apple fruit trees, biometric indices, productivity and marketable quality of apple fruit are investigated. The level of resistance of apple varieties to the main fungal diseases (scab, brown spot) has been determined and the level of resistance to unfavorable climatic conditions (winter hardiness, resistance to spring frosts, drought tolerance, heat resistance) has been estimated. The economic efficiency of cultivating apple varieties is calculated, depending on the mechanical cutting of the root system. Field of application - gardening.
