The basic concepts of organic production of agricultural products as a method that excludes the use of chemically synthesized fertilizers, plant protection products and animals, the use of genetically modified organisms, etc. are analyzed. The essence of the principles on which organic production is based are revealed - principles of health, ecology, justice, care. There are established categories of organic products depending on the mass fraction of certified organic components, and the rules for marking such products. The economic, ecological and social advantages of organic products in comparison with the traditional ones are substantiated. The factors of the internal environment (economic, technological, organizational) and the external environment (institutional, legal, social) are analyzed, which influence the efficiency of production of organic produce of agricultural enterprises.
