O.S.Kolomiychenko popup.description2 With the help of clinical and laboratory methods, the effectiveness of the treatement combined method of 98 patients with pathology of the temporal bone with facial nerve injuries using functional electrostimulation (FES) has been investigated. In clinical trials, the high efficacy of FES in complex therapy after surgery was demonstrated to rehabilitate the facial and hypoglossal nerves. The application of our modification of hypoglosso-facial anastomosis using descending brunch of hypoglossal nerve following by FES significantly improves the functional recovery of the facial and hypoglossal nerves. The audiological, vestibularometric examinations, the results of MSCT and MRI, the study of the low cranial nerves and the morphological data prove the high efficiency of the proposed combined treatment of facial paresis and paralysis with the use of FES. An original method of evaluating the function of the hypoglossal nerve, based on the study of the muscle tongue tonus, articulation and swallowing, is proposed. In an experiment in rabbits, the possibility of using a completely implanted system for electrostimulation of contraction of the orbicularis oculi muscle in unilateral facial paralysis was demonstrated. The possibility of using the proposed system for unilateral facial paralysis as an additional temporary method of treatment after neurorraphy or even as an independent single method of treatment with the impossibility of performing neurorraphy is shown.
