The subject of the study is the methodological basis for forecasting crime in Ukraine. The purpose of the study is to develop a methodology for forecasting crime in Ukraine. The research methods are: collection, processing and analysis of scientific publications in the mass media, analytical materials of ministries and departments on crime factors, its concept, main features and indicators, analysis of the state of crime in Ukraine and other countries of the world, determination of the degree of its latency; statistical analysis of data on the state of crime and convictions in Ukraine and other countries, as well as socioeconomic processes and phenomena affecting criminality using descriptive statistics methods, as well as, in cases where it is recognized as valid, methods of correlation analysis, spectral analysis , anti-aliasing, models of autoregression and moving average, multichannel models of autoregression and moving average; static methods for predicting time series - mechanical methods of smoothing of time series (simple slip average method, weighted average slip method, exponential smoothing method); analytical methods of smoothing of time series using regression and adaptive methods; neural networks etc .; logical simulation of a complex of factors of crime and logical-content analysis of its tendencies; correlation analysis of crime indicators and data characterizing socio-economic processes in Ukrainian society. The result of the study is the preparation of "Methods for predicting criminal offenses in Ukraine".
