Research methods: reproduction and reproduction of plants, field floristic surveys, geobotanical and population surveys; phenological observations in natural and model ecosystems; laboratory methods of research of anatomical-morphological, physiological and biochemical parameters; tissue culture methods in vitro; statistical analysis and mathematical processing of data. For effective gene pool conservation of rare and useful plants within the scientific object "Collections of tropical and subtropical plants of the Botanical Garden named after. acad. O.V. Fomina" introduction methods of conservation of certain species of collection are being developed. In 2018, the results of work with such plants as Lemna, Echinodorus, Dionaea were summed up, the features of the ontogenesis of the rare succulent species of African flora Pelargonium sidoides were studied and the method of pollination of Uncarina roeosliana was developed. To find out the mechanisms of adaptation to aggressive environmental factors, the leaves of the Antarctical endemic plant Deschampsia antarctica from different natural places were investigated and the stability of some and the variability of other features in different climatic conditions was demonstrated. The anatomical structure of vegetative organs of rare representatives of Ukrainian flora - plants of the genus Gentiana and Jovibarba globifera, as well as the endemic of the African succulent flora - Petopentii natalensis, has been investigated to find out the directions of their adaptation. For an example of Gentiana was shown that the use of red light optimizes the cultivation of plants in vitro. It has been shown that Ginkgo biloba has a high drought tolerance and heat resistance. Morphogenesis of 20 species of rare and useful plants was investigated for the development of reproduction and cultivation technologies in vitro. The regional landscape park "Birds' Paradise" created in 2017, was surveyed, the presence of rare plants and biotopes was shown. The data on Chаmaedaphne calyculata, which is listed in the Red book of Ukraine, were analyzed, the need to find new growth places for the creation of new natural protected areas was shown.
