The object of research is the printed and electronic publications, the pages of which reveals a complex of questions about the essence, content and trends of the history of Ukrainian pedagogy and education in the period from 1917 to 2017. The purpose of scientific research is the publication of new information, analytical materials on the development of national education and pedagogy at different periods of Ukrainian statehood for their scientific reflection and implementation in an active scientific and information circulation. The implementation of the theme involves the use and combination of philosophical, general science and special methods of socio-humanities to study the evolution of Ukrainian national education and upbringing, to identify the main trends of the process of forming the concepts of the national school, to obtain objective information on the development of national education in Ukraine, the contribution of outstanding teachers and the role of individual periodicals in the development of the national educational and educational space. At the main stage of the study, the classification, systematization and integral representation of various conceptual documents - doctrines, concepts, projects, programs - on the development of national education and upbringing in Ukraine during its independence 1991-2017 was carried out; analyzed the leading pedagogical goal-idea, which defines the main ways of modernizing the national school; A bibliographic review of V. O. Sukhomlynsky's publications and publications devoted to the study of life, activity, and pedagogical ideas of the scientist was conducted in order to popularize his work both in Ukraine and abroad.
