The influence of size effects, phenomena on interfaces and impurities on the optical and nonlinear-optical properties of the studied crystalline, nanostructured and composite materials was studied, and the corresponding models for their explanation are proposed. The analysis of the results concerning the possibility of application of the investigated materials in functional electronics devices was carried out, in particular, the schemes of application of materials for creation of LEDs and ionizing radiation sensors, models of laser beam converters are presented.
