The mechanism of inhibition consists in adsorption of trehalose-lipid molecules by carbonyl or hydroxyl groups on the surface of carbon steel under the donor-acceptor interaction, while the formation of unsoluble complexes between TL and metal ions is also possible. Different polysaccharides are promising synergists for the formation of a TL-based inhibitory composition.
