The fourth stage is devoted to the study of the influence of adsorbed layers on the tribological and wetting properties of nanoparticles. In this work, measurements of the coefficients of friction of lubricating monolayer films of n-alkanes (CnH2n + 2) adsorbed on atomic-smooth surfaces were carried out. For measurements we used a fundamentally new non-destructive method, which is based on a magnetic levitating pendulum in a magnetic field. It was established that the tribological properties of the interface n-alkane / atomically smooth surface depend on the length of the monolayer molecules. The results are explained by the incompatibility of the alkyl chain and the lubricating surface.
