The subject of research is new optical phenomena induced by ultrashort laser pulses. The purpose of the work is to create new time-resolved research methods and technologies of femtosecond laser microprocessing of materials, which are promising for optoelectronic and telecommunication applications, and to study the influence of laser-induced periodic structures on optical and nonlinear-optical properties of optical construction materials. The methods of research are time-resolved luminescence spectroscopy, laser ablation of materials, nonlinear optics and spectroscopy. The report includes the following parts of the work: further development of the methodological basis of the Center for the collective use of equipment "Laser femtosecond complex", development of physical basics of nanostructuring of metal surfaces under the action of femtosecond laser pulses and studying the properties of filaments in chalcogenide glassy semiconductors, studying the possibilities of using nanostructured metal surfaces for orientation of liquid crystals. The first section reports on the results of work on the creation of a new high-sensitivity system for detection of secondary radiation spectra on the basis of Hamamatsu multipixel photon counter and its experimental validation. The second section describes the results of investigation of the up-conversion phenomenon in chalcogenide glassy semiconductors doped by rare earth elements under the action of femtosecond laser pulses of the near infrared range and discussing the possibilities of its practical use. The third section is devoted to the description of the results of nanostructing of surfaces of refractory metals under the action of femtosecond laser pulses. The last section describes the results of application of the created surface periodic structures on metal films as a new method of orientation of nematic liquid crystals. The scopes of application are modern information technologies, sensorics, optoelectronics.
