Two variants of formation of sols from alkoxides have been studied: homogeneous and heterogeneous hydrolysis. The use of gel sol solder technology allows you to combine quartz grains into a single silica-oxygen network that have sufficiently open porosity and, accordingly, filtering ability, as well as sufficient strength. Exclusivity of sol-gel method is that the conglomeration of grains of quartz occurs without any impurities (flutes, fluxes), which would inevitably contaminate this composition. It was shown that produced products can be obtained by the method of semi-dry pressing with subsequent burning. Sol-gel hydrolyzate is recommended to prepare in a heterogeneous method. The total porosity can be obtained near 40%, including the open - 35%. Such process can be recommended for the preparation of inorganic sorbents, catalysts and carriers of catalysts, synthetic zeolites.
