Purpose: to develop the physical basis for the creation of a new generation of innovative technologies and equipment for the conversion of CO2. Method of investigation: complex experimental and theoretical studies of a wide range of discharges in carbon dioxide. The report presents the results of experimental studies of the conversion efficiency of carbon dioxide to CO and O2 in gas-discharge plasma at average gas pressure. Using the method of mass spectrometry, the dependences of the conversion rate and the energy efficiency of carbon dioxide conversion on the gas pressure and the power applied to the discharge were measured. Maximum conversion rate is 82%, and energy efficiency - up to 50%. Also, the results of investigations of the glow discharge in carbon dioxide by the method of optical emission spectroscopy are given. The processes in negative glow, positive column and anode glow are considered in detail.
