Karazin popup.description2 The study subject is burn disease, deep burns. The study scope includes general and local purulent-septic complications of burn disease and their prevention. The goal of the work is optimization of treatment results in patients with burn injury by the way of improving of diagnostics methods and creation of the program for prevention of general and local purulent-septic complications of burn disease. The study methods included morphological, morphometric, laboratory, instrumental, and statistical ones. The data on the nature, frequency, and risk of development of general and local purulent-septic complications of burn disease have been obtained. Microscopic examination of histological sections of skin of laboratory animals (Wistar rats) involved in the experiment of thermal injury simulation was carried out. The main morphological changes in rat skin tissues at different duration of thermal exposure and at various terms since the moment of thermal injury were identified, as well as morphological peculiarities of tissues of experimental burn wounds at various terms after thermal injury, treated by different therapeutic agents. Diagnostic criteria have been established, and the program for prevention of local and general purulent-septic complications of burn disease has been developed. Procedural guidelines for independent work of students "Morphological studies of tissues in burns" have been developed. Teaching of disciplines "Histology, Cytology, and Embryology", "Pathological Anatomy", "Pathological Physiology" has been improved by using the data collected during this research work. The main results of the studies are delineated in 1 article, 3 implementation reports, 19 abstracts in proceedings of 17 scientific conferences, including those with international participation, and implemented into educational process of Department of General and Clinical Pathology (School of Medicine, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University), Pathanatomy Department (Kharkiv Medical Academy of postgraduate education) and practical work of the department of burns (State Institution "Zaycev V.T. Institute of general and urgent surgery of national academy of medical sciences of Ukraine").
