The aim of the work - to establish the main factors of influence on the structural state and the physical and mechanical properties of nano-layer multi-period nitride coatings based on transition metals.Research methods - scanning and transmission electron microscopy of high-resolution, X-ray diffraction methods, X-ray fluorescence elemental analysis, measuring the strength and electrical properties. Using methods of elemental analysis, X - ray diffraction studies and microhardness measurements that are required for complex research according to the scheme: composition - structure - properties, the possibilities of structural engineering of multilayer TiN - Cu / (Al - Nb - Ti - Mo - V - Cr) N coatings were investigated. It was established that the introduction of the second layer from the high-entropy alloy, even with a small relative content of the constituent elements (up to 1 mass%), is accompanied by the formation of a phase based on the fcc lattice of the solid solution. The transition from single layer TiN - Cu coatings to the TiN - Cu / (Al-Nb-Ti-Mo-V-Cr)N multilayer system is accompanied by an increase in the relative nitrogen content in the coating and an increase in hardness reaching 24.5 GPa.
