The aim of the project is to develop scientifically based methods for selecting parameters of lightning protection with increased reliability, capable of minimizing the impact of high-voltage discharges on equipment performance. The method of finite integration as applied to mathematical modeling of electric distributions, which allows to take into account the influence of objects such as rods of large length and small diameter. The method of statistical modeling, which describes the electrophysical processes in the last stage of the movement of the lightning leader channel to the ground. Methods for measuring the corona pulse current from grounded objects that are in an external electric field, similar to electric fields in a pre-storm setting. Methods for assessing the ability of rod electrodes that simulate lightning conductors and objects protected by "intercepting" high-voltage discharges with various parameters of the systems under consideration. Based on the decomposition of modeling methods, a method for the numerical calculation of the distribution of the predicted number of lightning hits on the territory of the objects under study has been developed.
