The aim is to study the actual sources of sources and historiographical aspects of the topic, analysis of regional peculiarities of political, economic and socio-cultural processes in Eastern Europe in the 20th - beginning of the 21st century. Methods of research: problem-chronological, historical-genetic, comparative-historical, historical-system, prozopografy, statistical. The novelty of the research is determined by the fact that it outlined the peculiarities and peculiarities of the political and socio-cultural development of Eastern Europe, in particular the territories that were part of the Russian Empire, when the main components of the industrial society were formed, and made the reasoned conclusions regarding the results of this process. Sphere of usage the results of the research work have been implemented in the educational process at the Faculty of History of DNU. On the provisions and conclusions of the SRW there is training of scientific personnel and students' diploma and course work are created. The practical application of the SRW is the possibility of using its results in training courses and special courses on the history of Eastern Europe, in particular, "History and Culture of Ukraine", the History of Russia and the USSR ("History of Russia", "History of the USSR", "History of Orthodoxy in Russia" , "Modernization of Soviet Society: Historical Aspect").
