The purpose of the work is the creation of domestic gas detectors of gamma-radiation of a new generation with a particularly clean xenon, with an extended resource and wide radiation and temperature ranges of work intended for long-term and reliable use in the structure of nuclear energy equipment. For the study of the electrophysical and radiation characteristics of detectors in the proportional mode of operation, two types of prototypes were made: with planar parallel-placed electrodes and with cylindrical shape with an anode in the form of a thin thread located in the center of a thin-walled tube. Detectors were filled with gas mixture inert gas Xe + 0.25%H2 at different pressures. A spectrometric channel was developed and manufactured. The amplitude distributions of the detector signal in the proportional mode and its counting characteristics were measured. The amplitude of the input signal of a cylindrical detector at the pressure of 100 kPa of the gas mixture Xe + 0.25% H2 was investigated. The obtained results allow us to propose a systematic approach to the development and production of a domestic modern gas detector of ionizing radiation, both with counting and spectrometric properties.
