The purpose of the work is a development of production technology of corundum with additives of chromia and zirconia refractories for combustion chamber of carbon production reactors. The research methods are chemical, petrographic, thermo-mechanical ones. Comparative studies of the influence of additives Cr2O3, ZrO2 and the combined additive of chromium oxide and zirconium dioxide, as well as the combined additive of chromium oxide, zirconium dioxide and active alumina on the apparent density of freshly formed and dried samples of corundum refractories, and on the main properties of these samples after firing at 1580 °C and 1730 °С have been carried out. An optimum additive, which ensures the formation of a dense structure of refractories with high cold crushing strength and apparent density, has been established. As a result of the carried out researches, the production technology of corundum with additives of chromia and zirconia refractories, characterized by high indexes of properties, is developed, and the assortment of refractory products, which is being developed by the institute, is expanded. In JSC "The URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy" the pilot batches of low cement corundum with chromia additive castable and low cement corundum with chromia additive rubbing, characterized by indexes of properties that corresponded to requirements of the technical specifications and the Buyer, have been produced. The manufactured refractory products are delivered to the consumer on the domestic market. The work shall be continued in the line of further improving and mastering of the developed production technology of corundum with additives of chromia and zirconia products, as well as further improving the production technology of low cement corundum with chromia additive castable and fired mullite corundum products, expanding the volumes of their production and application.
