The purpose of the work is a mastering of production technology of new type-shape corundum-spinel plugs for the bottom blowing of metal in steel ladles. The research methods are chemical, physical-mechanical ones. During the manufacturing of pilot batches of blowing plugs, the production technology of new type-shape corundum-spinel blowing plugs with a height of 450 mm in the form of a truncated cone with a hexagonal base and channel gaps, characterized by indexes of properties that corresponded to requirements of the technical specifications, has been mastered. On the pilot production of JSC "The URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy" according to requirements of the technological instruction the pilot batch of alumina-magnesium-chromite spinel with the following properties: mass. fraction, %: Al2O3 - 72.21; MgO - 12.3; Cr2O3 - 14.0; SiO2 - 0.60; CaO - 0.49; Fe2O3 - 0.40; water absorption 4.5 %, open porosity 14 %, apparent density of 3.20 g/cm3, has been produced. On the pilot production of JSC "The URIR named after A.S. Berezhnoy" the pilot batches of plugs and installed blocks with indexes of properties that corresponded to requirements of the technical specifications, have been produced, and these products are intended for the bottom blowing of metal. The manufactured products are delivered to metallurgical plants of Ukraine for use in steel ladles at blowing of molten metal by inert gases.
