The purpose of the work is to reveal theoretical and methodological, applied and political-institutional principles of management of sustainable development in the conditions of democratic political systems. The method of research - theoretical and methodological analysis of the management of the political crisis in democratic political systems in the perspective of introducing its constitutional conditions, general architectonics, procedurally-dynamic forms of implementation is carried out through the use of methodological resources of the paradigm of the new institutionalism, which allows to capture the specifics of the management of the political crisis in the context of the development of a democratic political systems. It is proposed to allocate such stages of crisis situation deployment in the context of development of a democratic political system: 1) prodromal; 2) manifesto; 3) culmination; 4) sanation. It is established that during the implementation of the reform strategy there is a risk of incompleteness (curtailment) of this process, which may be caused by inconsistency and inconsistency of the change of rules, as well as by the countermeasures of informal institutions. The research results are implemented in the educational process in the teaching of disciplines in the training of students in the field of training and specialty "Political Science". Foreseeable assumptions about the development of the research object are the compilation and substantiation of state target programs on functional improvement of political-institutional structures, the conduct of public policy of modernization on the basis of increasing the efficiency of political institutions.
