The purpose of the work is to determine the main stages and directions of Ukraine's development in the 20th century, to characterize the social and cultural changes that are observed at the beginning of 21st century, to outline the main trends of cultural development of Ukraine in the 21st century. Methods of research – the narrative method, the methods of comparativism, psychoanalysis, deconstructivism. The historical events in Ukraine in 1902-22 were described and a new interpretation of the concept of “peasant revolution" was obtained by the analysis of the peasants’ social behavior under the conditions of exacerbation of relations with the landlords and the state. On the basis of the documents, the features of the "white movement" on Katerynoslav land in the autumn of 1918 were determined. The changes in the form and content of artistic works of Ukrainian literature in the 20-30's of the 20th century was characterized. There were investigated the features of realization such genres as robinsonade, thriller, travelogue on the Ukrainian ground. It was also analyzed the concept of the secret text, and the motive of parental deprivation in Ukrainian works of the beginning of the 21st century was conceptualized. The peculiarities of the manifestation of author's consciousness in Svetlana Yovenko's poetry were studied. The concept of socio-cultural changes in the Ukrainian society of the 20th – the beginning of the 21st century was developed.
