The choice of transmission mechanism is justified, which provides minimum radial overall dimensions with the necessary force and kinematic parameters, which made it possible to place this mechanism in the limited internal space of the housing of the drum.The method of calculation of dynamic processes in the hydraulic drive unit of the grinding machine, which allow to determine the nature of change of rotational speed and pressure by time coordinate and to reveal the influence on the transient processes of starting the parameters of the mechanical system, is developed. A mathematical model of machine unit dynamics has been developed for wood waste shredders. Studies of the mathematical model of the hydraulic drive unit allowed us to determine the nature of the change of parameters, and to reveal a significant influence on the duration of the transient process of starting the hydraulic drive of the torsional rigidity of the mechanical system, volumepressure cavity of the hydraulic system, the moment of inertia of the actuator. The performed researches allowed to optimize the design parameters of the developed drive of the shredder of wood waste. The method of design calculation of the developed drive devices is given.
