The main objective is to highlight the issue of ethno-cultural contacts, their dynamics and transformations on the territory of the Carpathian and Volyn regions. The theme is of great scientific significance, since it reveals the ancient past of the great geographical region of Ukraine, in particular, the issue of ethno-cultural relations between different communities, their cultural-historical development, the mutual influence of the era of the stone, the first agricultural and pastoral tribes of the period of the Eneolithic period and the early cultures of the paleometal era. Wide regional studies of early Slavic time and ancient Russian state have been carried out? Kievan Rus in the IX-XIII centuries. Such a study was conducted using a new methodology, involving specialists in related disciplines, using the latest arsenal of technology, electronics, the Internet and international communications. In order to fulfill the set problems, the employees of the department of archeology conducted systematic field research with the involvement of natural scientists - geomorphologists, Quaternary geologists, palynologists, malakologists and others. Particular attention deserves the study of the Paleolithic, the exploration of the Bronze Age-Bronze Mounds - the Early Iron Age, monuments of the culture of garbage dishes, architectural and archaeological study of the remains of medieval cities.
