The purpose of the study is increasing the reliability and veracity of determining the inclination of coal to self-ignition. The study was carried out using the following methods: the method of selection and preparation of coal samples, the method of determining the oxidation of coal using a chromotograph, a microscopic method for determining the maximum broken and unbroken samples of coal, mathematical method for processing the obtained results . In the course of the study, a method and device for the selection of coal samples in coal mines have been developed. Implementation is planned at all mines of the Donbas and Lviv-Volyn basins.
