The purpose of scientific research is to study ways to ensure safety from the penetration into the environment of the decay products of radioactive materials containing tritium, and the conditions for their safe use during long-term storage. The relevance and importance of the work lies in the fact that its results can be used in activities related to the protection of the environment, while creating various barriers that will prevent or stop the penetration of tritium outside the storage of radioactive materials, as well as improve protection measures people and the environment when working with tritium and its compounds. The importance of the work is also confirmed by the fact that in Ukraine there are a number of facilities where radioactive materials containing tritium are stored. Most of these facilities have a life expectancy that is ending or has ended. Therefore, it is important to study the conditions and characteristics of the physicochemical processes of the decay products of radioactive materials containing tritium, and the expansion of their safe long-term storage. Research method - theoretical calculations and experimental studies. As a result of the first stage of research, 2 articles were published, 2 reports were made at conferences, some results of work in a collective monograph based on the results of the conference were published. The research results can be used by scientists and engineers involved in the development of new technologies to reduce the penetration of technogenic tritium from problem areas into the environment. Predictive assumptions about the development of the object of study - the results of theoretical and experimental studies can become the fundamental basis for creating technologies for safe long-term storage of radioactive materials containing tritium.
