The existence of age patterns in the nature and degree of these changes was established. It has been shown that methionine enhances the functional and regenerative activity of the thyroid gland and liver, but did not affect the activity of the exocrine part of the pancreas in young rats and somewhat reduces the functional activity of its endocrine part. Methionine enhanced both the exocrine and endocrine activity of the pancreas in adult rats. The obtained data have some practical interest in using methionine preparations in clinical practice.
