Biological-Geological composition of bottom sediments of the Argentine Archipelago, determination of their particle size, mineral and chemical composition were carried out. The taxonomic composition of diatom algae, quantitative ratios of species-rank taxa were analyzed using the bottom sediments of the Stella Creeck strait. Conclusions about the conditions of sedimentation at this site in the late Quaternary are given. Preliminary data on the use of standard radioisotope dating methods using Pb-210 from the Ukrainian Antarctic station Akademik Vernadsky sediments has been obtained.
