The report contains the results of comprehensive studies in the Odessa region of the NWBS, the seaside of the Kiliya mouth of the Danube and the Black Sea estuaries. The report contains information on the formation of the marine environment quality in the conditions of coastal zone anthropogenic transformation. The trends of changes in hydrological and hydrochemical indicators on the Black Sea shelf, the spatial distribution and quantitative composition of petroleum products (oil) and heavy metals in water and bottom sediments were investigated. Maps of the spatial distribution of pollutants in the bottom sediments of the study area were created using GIS technologies. The last sections of the report are devoted to the development of two integral methods for assessing the quality of the aquatic environment: toxicological bioassay and bioindication of hydromorphological conditions in accordance with the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive 2000/60 / EC.
