The purpose of the development is the design of high-efficient methods and technologies of the bulk and surface strengthening of multi-functional wear-resistant materials with the effects of self-adaptation and self-strengthening in terms of testing and operation, which provides an elevated level and a set of properties. The methods of research are quantummetric, spectrometric, metallographic, scanning electron microscopic, micro-X-ray-spectral, X-ray diffraction, durometric (hardness and microhardness measurements), complex tests of mechanical properties of tensile test, impact toughness, wear resistance in various wear conditions (adhesive (dry friction sliding), abrasive, impact-abrasive for two dynamical schemes). The result of the development is a technological algorithm for designing bulk-surface strengthening treatments taking into account the evolution of the material during testing and operation; new methods and technologies of bulk-surface strengthening of thermal, thermo- chemical treatments, pulse-plasma processing, surfacing of metastable metal in combination with heat treatment, coating of diffusion coatings of structural, tool, high-strength steels, wear-resistant castings, deposited metal. Due to the creation of resource-saving metastable bulk-surface phase-structural modifications with the using of the developed methods and technologies the increase of physical-mechanical, technological and operational properties of various functional materials is carried out. The technology of bulk and surface strengthening of gears and gear wheels is worked out, adjusted and introduced into production in the machine-building enterprise of LLC "MAGMA", the results of the development are recommended for implementation in metallurgical, machine-building and repair-mechanical enterprises.
