The dialectics of the individual and the public, the nature of human perception of the changes taking place in her personal and social life, as well as the influence of the social on the individual and vice versa during the period of functioning of the modern Ukrainian society, which was named in the scientific literature - the transit society, was explored. The substantive field of the study consisted of phenomena and processes characterized by a general civilization orientation (in the past and present), as well as specific events and individual phenomena: religious, cultural, political, educational, gender, peculiar appearing in the conditions of a transit society. Considerable attention was paid to the comprehension of religious, moral, gender, educational, legal, political factors, the specifics of their functioning on the individual, collective and social levels, and their influence on the formation of Ukrainian self-identity in the conditions of a transit society.
