ADAPTATION, HETEROCHRONY, EVOLUTION, ONTOGENESIS, PHYLOGENY, VERTEBRATES. The object of the research - model objects, representatives of several groups of vertebrates. The purpose of the work is to identify and quantify the evolutionary mechanisms that led to adaptative changes in vertebrate animals in the water, terrestrial and air environments on the example of several model groups. Methods of research – micro- and macroscopic methods of preparation, morphometry, comparative method. For the analysis of the obtained materials - statistical methods. The purpose of the study is to identify and quantify the evolutionary mechanisms that led to adaptive changes in vertebrates in the water, terrestrial and air environments on the example of several model groups. The work covers the study of mechanisms of evolution; morphology and probable lifestyle of ancestral forms (if necessary, with clarification of taxonomy and phylogeny); comparative-anatomical, functional-anatomical and comparative-embryological studies of model groups, with specification of data on their lifestyle and behavior. As a result, a series of articles was prepared, in which new data and generalizations on morphology, ontogenesis, ecology and evolution of studied vertebrates’ groups were presented.
