The study purposes are to analyze the biological and environmental features of the formation and development of biodiversity of the city of Lutsk, to determine the species composition of tree plants and to assess their condition. At bottom of research work the next research methods are used, namely general sciences (analysis, synthesis, system approach, observation, generalization, field, historical and cartographic); experimental (research of cold resistance, induction of fluorescence of chlorophyll, content of basic elements of nutrition and heavy metals in soils); special (phenological - definition of seasonal rhythms of growth and development of plants, visual - determination of the general condition of plants and evaluation of their decorative character, forestry and taxation - creation of inventory information) and mathematical and statistical (processing of experimental data with the help of a package of computer programs). The value of the results obtained is to substantiate the theoretical aspects of the development of urban green spaces, to assess its current state and to identify the factors that influence the condition of plantations. The study of biodiversity of green plantations of various functional purposes provides the creation of a comprehensive development system for the green zone of the city of Lutsk. Application of the obtained results is possible in the field of greenery of populated areas, in particular by the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Lutsk City Council, the inspection department for improvement and sanitation of the city.Inventory materials can be used for recording and monitoring of urban green spaces of various functional uses.
