The aim of the study is to establish structure and characteristics of absorption and emission centers in complex oxides. Those containing phosphate, tungstate, sulfate and phosphate oxyanions. Theoretical and methodological basis of the study are the spectroscopic studies of absorbance, luminescence and its excitation, as well as Raman scattering for crystals and powders of complex oxides. In the framework of international project the studies are performing in the wide spectral range spreading from vacuum ultraviolet up to near infrared region (90-1200 nm) with using of synchrotron radiation on “SUPERLUMI” station of “DESY” electron accelerator (Hamburg, Germany). Electronic band structure calculations were performed by band methods in the framework of density functional theory. The created models of absorption and emission centers in bismuth phosphates, molybdates and phosphatomolybdates undoped and those doped with rare-earth ions (Eu3+, Pr3+ etc) are among the most significant results. The origin of luminescence for alkali sulfates and nature of short-wavelength luminescence of double phosphates of zinc/manganese Zn2-x-MnxP2O7•nH2O (n=0, 1, 5; х = 0-2) also was established. The use of these approaches are possible in the area of modern optoelectronic devices while the studied materials can be applied as their components, in particular for case of light emitting diodes. Results of the scientific work included to monographs, scientific papers and were presented on international scientific conferences. Published scientific papers would be helpful for scientists, PhDs and students engaged in the branch of optics of crystals and in material science.
