In such a way the noticeable influence of small volume changes, induced by the defects reconfiguration, on the main characteristics of shape memory alloys, such as elastic modulus, deformation of martensitic transformation and transformation heat, is established. The simple thermodynamic theory for the quantitative modeling of giant magnetocaloric effect observed in the metamagnetic shape memory alloys was developed. The normal magnetocaloric effect at the Curie temperature and inverse magnetocaloric effect at the structural phase transition temperature are both investigated.
