O. Paton Electric Welding Institute. Simulation of thermal-deformation state of metal using “Gleeble - 3800” system allowed plotting thermal-kinetics diagrams and determining the peculiarities of austenite transformation, effect of carbon on kinetics of its decay and temperature phase transformations. Increased content of carbon in these steels allows forming the welded joint structures consisting of tempering martensite, acicular ferrite and lower bainite in the heat effect zone and decrease of silicon content in the welds up to 0.5 wt.% permits rising cold crack resistance of welded joints. All these facts provide high indices of strength and impact toughness of welded joints of mentioned steels. There were developed the calculation mathematical model and software, which allows plotting thermal-kinetics diagrams and predicting structure state by calculation. It is well agreed with generated bulk of experimental data and can be used for determination of modes of repair welding of steel structures, from which due to specific conditions of operation (vessels of nuclear reactors, tower constructions, bridges etc.) it is impossible to produce the samples for investigations.
