Objective - to ensure the formation and maintenance of the National Bank for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine by enriching with new sources of valuable economic and biological traits. The 269 plant gene pool collections and 1,921 accessions, which are registered with the NGRGRU, including 10 collections and 173 accessions registered in 2018, are valuable source material for breeding, research, education, they are also is innovative objects. Preservation of the viable seed pool in the National Plant Gene Pool Depository of Ukraine is ensured. The pool comprises 71,600 accessions belonging to 307 crops of 732 domestic plant species and wild relatives. We developed a method to predict the longevity of seeds of underutilized wheat species by the initial antioxidant activity. The Plant Gene Pool Information System was maintained with a passport database containing information about 106,600 gene pool accessions belonging to 442 crops of 1,775 plant species. The NCPGRU drew 5,991 new gene pool accessions, including 1,735 accessions of 145 crops in 2018, to the National Genbank. Of these, 2,071 accessions were collected in Ukraine (641 in 2018); 3,920 were obtained from 35 foreign countries (1,094 in 2018). A quarantine trial and a primary study of 3,000 cereal samples introduced from 18 countries, including 817 accessions in 2018, were carried out. In the primary field assessment, 360 carriers of valuable economic traits were identified for in-depth studies and use in breeding and other programs. For use in breeding, research and educational processes, 10,388 packages of plant gene pool accessions were sent to users, including 10,103 around Ukraine and 285 to foreign countries under exchange offers.
