V. Ya. Yuriev popup.description2 Study object: the genetic diversity of sunflower by tocopherol isomers and the general antioxidant activity. Study purpose: create sources of genes responsible for redistribution of tocopherol isomers in sunflower oil and a high level of the general antioxidant activity for the breeding of specialized oil and confectionery hybrids with high-quality seeds. On the basis of the generalized genetic information on the antioxidant activity of seeds of sunflower accessions and their monitoring for the contents of tocopherol isomers, starting material was created for the breeding of lines with increased contents of tocopherol isomers. Sunflower lines - sources of redistribution characteristic of tocopherol isomers with increased content of β- (up to 62.43%), γ- (up to 75.65%) and δ- (up to 19.75%) isomers related to the total tocopherol content, with productivity of 25.99-79.97 g/plant and 1000-seed weight of 25.52-70.58, were created. The created lines were examined at the National Center for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine to receive certificates, to form a trait collection, to be included in the gene bank of Ukraine and to be used in breeding programs for quality. Sunflower line Kh 1711 V with modified contents of tocopherol isomers and a high combining ability for performance was selected. A catalog of the genetic value of sunflower lines in terms of tocopherol content and total antioxidant activity, containing information on the quality indicators of seeds (oil content, tocopherol content, tocopherol isomer composition, total antioxidant activity, protein content), performance and morphological characteristics, was compiled. The methodical recommendations “Analysis of the Total Antioxidant Activity of Seeds of Major Field Crops”, which presents a detailed description of the improved method for determining the antioxidant activity of seeds using the stable free radical DPPH, its advantages over other methods and limitations of its use, were developed Product Description popup.authors popup.nrat_date 2020-04-02 Close
