The purpose of the study: definition of major factors of technogenic load of representative sites of water ob-jects of the basins of Dnieper and Dniester. Research methods: analysis and systematization of scientific-theoretical and practical data on the quantita-tive and qualitative sectoral aspects of water use in the basins of selected water sites. Main results: natural and anthropogenic factors of water resource potential formation in representative areas of water sites on Dnieper and Dniester basins were investigated. Water consumption of priority industries and utilities has been estimated. The main causes of the depletion of water resources in representative sites of Dnieper and Dniester basins have been established. The sources of pollution of surface waters are sys-tematized and priority pollutants are identified as a result of technogenic load of individual industries and public utilities in representative areas of Dnieper and Dniester basins. Existing water treatment techniques have been studied taking into account traditional local practices and their shortcomings have been evaluated. The main factors of anthropogenic load on the representative areas of Dnieper and Dniester are established. The results are recommended for implementation in the development of long-term and urgent measures of water management in certain places of water use.
