The purpose of the research is to study the current state of natural avicomplexes of several landscape and geographical areas and regions of Ukraine in time and space. Task is monitoring of the status of certain groups and species of birds by studying the patterns of the formation of the recent avifauna in conditions of intensified anthropogenic transformation of the environment. The work was carried out according to traditional methods used in environmental and faunistic research. The report covers achievements on five sections of the STD, that are following: data on identification and analysis of the main historical stages of the formation of the avifauna in the Forest and Forest-steppe natural zones of Ukraine, studies of the current distribution of breeding species of the family Sylviidae in the territory of Ukraine and accumulation of information on their migrations, studies of the current state of the avifauna of the Crimea and investigation of the composition of the bird population of the peninsula in the Pleistocene and the Holocene, assessment of the state of the avifauna in the dry-steppe subzone of Ukraine during the last 30 years and ecological and faunistic studies of seasonal dynamics of the bird populations in dominant landscapes of the region, study of the present state, ecology, geographical distribution, practical significance and changes in fauna of the Strigiformes of Ukraine during the historical period.
