The purpose of the research is to develop scientific and methodological principles for the reconstruction of the agrarian sector and the development of rural areas of Ukraine. On the basis of the analysis of the tendencies of the development of rural areas of Ukraine and the agrarian sphere, a cognitive map of the formation of development problems was built, the main of which are depopulation, desertification of rural territories, structural disproportions of agrarian production, decline of social infrastructure and inefficiency of rural territorial communities. The conceptual provisions of the development of rural areas in Ukraine that provide for the reconstruction of rural areas through activization and diversification of agro-industrial production are developed; specific principles of the project approach as the basis of state support for agricultural producers are formulated; the requirements for organizational and methodological support for the development of rural areas of Ukraine, which provides for the development of a system of goals and sub-goals of development are substantiated; project "Village of the Future" for the united rural community with the use of public-private partnership tools, projects for the development of individual livestock sectors for individual and farm enterprises are proposed. The results of scientific research are used in the practical activities of local governments, agricultural enterprises. Forecast proposals concerning perspective directions of research - scientific and technical and innovative development and competitiveness of the state, its regions and economic entities.
