Local oscillators for receivers intended for radio astronomical spectral investigations. Purpose of work. Elaboration of techniques and construction of local oscillators providing high resolution of frequency conversion unit of C-band and K-band. Methods of investigations and equipment. Modern methods of frequency synthesis are applied, specifically direct digital synthesis, frequency transformation, phase locked loops as well. Measurements were performed with application of modern spectrum analyzers. Results and their novelty. Structure of local oscillators intended for second frequency transformation of radio telescope receiver was designed. It was shown that direct digital synthesizers should be applied in order to provide necessary spectral resolution. It was shown that application of such synthesizers is possible with low value of frequency multiplication factor only, as well as with thorough filtering of signals of all reference sources. Advice on the application of results. Results of investigation may be applied for radio astronomical observations as well as for design of microwave frequency synthesizers.
