The purpose and objectives of the study: the establishment of psycho-physiological patterns of changes in the functional state and mental performance of a person after exposure to powerful (combat) stress in the process of rehabilitation of participants ATO. Research methods - clinical, hygienic, psychological, psycho-physiological, physiological, mathematical. Structurization of possible extreme factors of the working environment has been carried out and a hypothesis has been formulated about the likely mechanism of "natural selection" under the action of a complex of extreme factors, allowing them to leave at work those who have the formation of a protective psychophysiological "shell" that contributes to their resistance to overcoming existing tests. The groups of factors of the “combat environment” and “life support organization” are highlighted and the power of their components on the psycho-emotional state of combatants is evaluated. A complex of informative psycho-physiological characteristics sensitive to changes in the health status of military personnel has been identified. The role of negative relationships of the parameters of psycho-physiological characteristics at different levels of health and professional performance is shown. Spontaneous recovery of psychophysiological and heart rhythm regulation functions in combatants have the same tendency in groups with “best” and “worst” results of psychophysiological testing. Restoration of heart rate regulation in the group with the "best" psycho-physiological indicators occurs faster, and the recovery of the individually typological and psychodynamic functions differs in these groups in their dynamics and level. The recovery period of the physical performance of servicemen after being in the ATO zone is rather slow and takes about 4-7 months on average.
