The subject of research is the theory of the evaluation of wear, durability, resource and productivity of cutting tools, taking into account the uncertainty of these indicators in real production conditions. The purpose of the project is to develop scientific and methodological bases for assessing the quality (technological properties) of purchased cutting tools and forecasting their state directly in the process of processing. During the implementation of research work on the basis of logical-structural analysis and processing of statistical data on the activities of machine-building enterprises with small-scale and single-type production, and with the help of established principles and methods of database formation, a system of technical and economic indicators of the quality of the metal cutting tool purchased, taking into account the uncertainty of the information for the specific production conditions of the machine-building enterprise. The problem of creating new tools and methods for assessing the quality of blade cutting tools (hereinafter LRI) for finishing processing has been solved. On the basis of the study of the process of formation of the contact zone "tool - machined part" in terms of adhesion, the dependence of the quality of LRI on the adhesion component of the friction force is established. The toolkit for quantifying the quality of LRI, based on simulation modeling of the cutting process, which takes into account the tribological interaction of instrumental and machined materials and the radius of rounding of the cutting tool, is developed and practically implemented. The standard geometric parameters of the indenter for the determination of the adhesion component of the frictional force that can occur during the cutting by the tool under given conditions including the coatings are proposed.
